Mission
The mission of the Music Committee is to integrate music into the life of the congregation, developing a deeper musicality and connection with music.
Objectives
- Recognize and enhance the role of music in the worship/spiritual life of the congregation
- Expand the range of musical offerings at Sunday services
- Increase musical presence at other Summit events (e.g., memorial services, social gatherings, CRE programming, social action/justice events)
- Enhance the congregation’s musical enjoyment, participation and awareness
Responsibilities
- Oversee and expand the variety and quality of musical offerings at Sunday services
- Identify a pool of musicians to perform at Sunday services and/or other Summit events
- Serve as resource and support to music contractors (pianist) as needed
- Communicate with the Sunday Services Committee, visiting minister or guest speakers regarding choice of music and musicians for services; make recommendations as requested
- Provide assistance in choosing music and arranging for musicians for memorial services and other special events as requested
- Oversee regular piano maintenance and tuning three pianos
