Songs of Solidarity: Reflections of a Protest Singer

Join us for a service filled with uplifting music that celebrates unity, empathy, and collective strength, led by social justice folk singer and First UU Music Director, Marshall Voit. Come ready to sing along as Marshall shares songs and stories from some of the social justice movements he’s been a part of, as well as some favorite UU hymns.

Marshall Voit is a lifelong San Diegan whose rich musical career was developed through outstanding public-school music education. As song leader, choir director, bass singer, and guitar player, Marshall has traveled from San Diego to Australia, to South Africa. His Jewish roots and upbringing offered opportunities as music specialist at Temple Emanu-El of San Diego, artist residencies with synagogues in Oklahoma and Cape Town, South Africa, and singing with Jewish and UU congregations throughout North America on four successful tours. Currently, Marshall is Music Director at First UU Church San Diego. When he’s not working, Marshall loves to play sports and sing with his barbershop quartet, Los Bordershop. He lives in a small RV with his dog/copilot, Jackie.”
