Why should I love my enemy? How can I possibly act with care toward those who violate and harm me and others? In this winter of our discontent, rising hate speech and destructive partisanship reflect an ignorance of how to answer such questions. As a result we find ourselves in danger of justifying hateful actions and reactions, and normalizing them. How shall we respond to such problems?
