Buddhist Wisdom

Buddhism is many things—a philosophy, a religion, and a way of life. Join us as we explore some of the many ways Buddhist insights inform, comfort, and shake us awake from our complacency. “Budh” is Sanskrit for “awake.” To what extent are we asleep? And what would it mean to wake up? What insights can Buddhism offer us on how we might better navigate the impermanence and suffering of our own lives?

About the Speaker:

Peter Bolland is professor of philosophy and humanities and department chair at Southwestern College. He received his BA in religious studies from UC Santa Barbara and an MA in Philosophy from SDSU. In addition to his college commitments, he lectures in a wide variety of venues on philosophical, spiritual, and mythological subjects. His talks through Oasis and Osher are typically sold out, and he has participated in services and workshops and retreats at several UU congregations.
