Wallace Stegner, giant of western literature, liked to speak of the importance of place, especially in the West and in the wilderness. He spoke of “the geography of hope” that human beings need to survive and to be whole. We will consider where our own places are, in the external world, but also internally. We will ask how moral geography is formed and practiced. Finally, we will reflect upon what happens when we “lose our place,” either in the landscape of this earth, or in our own inner places—the ones we depend upon to tell us who we are. We welcome the Rev. Carolyn Price back to our pulpit!
