A fun service with lots of congregational hymn singing assisted by the Summit Choir. Together we will make a “Joyful Noise!” Barbara Scheidker will play and talk about the beneficial effects of hymn singing. It facilitates slow, deep breathing, helps reduce blood pressure, and brings us together in harmony. This service will include a musical breathing meditation.
Summit Accompanist Barbara Scheidker’s father was a wonderful singer who livened up road trips by encouraging her to sing rounds and to harmonize his melodies. They moved from Michigan to Texas, where she studied music at Rice University and then the University of Texas at Austin, becoming friends with fellow graduate student Karen Follingstad! She teaches piano to students of all ages.
