Surprising Stories of Mercy

Most of us have been moved by stories centered around the concept of mercy. Portia’s famous speech in Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice comes to mind: “The quality of mercy is not strain’d; It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath: . . .” Or surprising accounts of mercy from other writers—or from our own lives.

Rev. Ned Wight, Summit’s Minister Emeritus, who retired from active ministry at the UU Congregation at Shelter Rock in Manhasset, NY, in 2019, looks forward to exploring mercy stories with us—and how they might lead us to the core of our UU faith.
